Welcome to the craftsman's studio.
Kutani-yaki, which originated in Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture, in the early Edo period (1603-1868), is a type of colored porcelain characterized by its vivid primary colors. This video introduces the production process of the traditional "Aode" style motifs colored in yellow, blue (green), navy blue, and purple, with explanations by the artist. Please enjoy the innovative and modern style of hand-painted traditional colored porcelain.
【About the craftsman】
Masao Miyamoto
In 1996, he was selected for the first time for the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition.
Since then, he has received numerous awards at exhibitions and public competitions, including 20 Honorable Mentions at the same exhibitions.
In 2005, he went to Italy as an overseas trainee for budding artists dispatched by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
In 2006, he was selected for the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition, and his "Green-colored Bowl with Shinrei Line Design" was purchased by the Imperial Household Agency.
Awarded the 4th Mitsui Golden Artisan Prize in 2022.
Member of the Japan Craftsmen's Association, member of the Japan Ceramic Art Association, and Kutaniyaki traditional craftsman.
